Re: [LincolnTalk] Lincoln in Waltham

Buckner Creel
Andy is correct -- where the children sleep determines which town is responsible for their schooling.  Split properties are not the only situation which requires analysis; joint custody and split families also require some thought.

Rosie's Place always needs these items.
http://rosiesplace.org/
They have a drop off at 889 Harrison Ave., Boston. You may be able to drop
your things off right at Magic Garden Children's Center. They often collect
for Rosie's Place.

Also, sometimes the COA has a collection box for travel size-give them a call too.

Hi all,
Just curious.  I was looking through Redfin, as I'm want to do when
dreaming of bigger digs, and I noticed a listing for 4 Old Conant Road came
up under Lincoln. The listing seemed to imply although the land is
technically in Waltham and kids are sent to Waltham schools, that the roads
are plowed by Lincoln and the mailing address is also Lincoln and only
accessible through Lincoln or Weston.  I certainly know that we have a
little piece of Cambridge here with the reservoir but are there any other
quirks like that?  Also, does Waltham pay us to plow their road or is it
some sort of a mutual aid situation.  Who patrols that area?

Any Lincoln enclaves in other towns that have similar arrangements?  No
jokes about Lincoln enclaves in Killington or the Vineyard.    : )

Thanks, Louis

I need to have the wooden floors sanded and waxed or refinished.  Can anyone
recommend a floor refinishing servicer who does nice work at an affordable
price?  I would most prefer to find someone who offers a natural solution,
(i.e. no toxic chemicals), for waxing / refinishing.

Thank you.

Towns plow & patrol their own roads, and the Lincoln post office delivers
to Lincoln addresses.  If the parcel straddles the town border, you will
have two property tax bills, one each for the lot portion contained in the
respective town.

My understanding:  residency (and therefore, where your kids would go to
school) is determined by which town the house structure is in.  And I've
heard (legend?) at least one case where a town border split the house, and
residency was determined by which town the *bedrooms* were in!

Hi Ruth Ann,

I am part of a grassroots group called the Sudanese Circle of Giving that helps struggling single Sudanese women and their families. The toiletries you mentioned would be great to pass on to them!

Please let me know if you stil have them to donate.

Thanks.

Re: [LincolnTalk] Lincoln in Waltham

This is pretty interesting!  I lived at 161 Buckskin Drive in Weston as a kid...but for some reason it was zoned Wayland schools (I went to Claypit HIll).  The web is even confused, sometimes it's listed as Wayland and sometimes it's Weston on sites like Zillow and Trulia.
