Dear Sara,

Regardless of whether or not you have town water or a gas line, before any digging is done, DigSafe must be called and all utility companies must come to mark the locations of any buried lines.  Someone has called DigSafe, perhaps Public Works for road work or perhaps one of your neighbors.

These white marks with "DS" indicate the anticipated limits of the area to be excavated, so that DigSafe will check and mark the right areas.  If there are no water or gas lines, marks wll show that (such as "NG" fo "no gas").  Lines are color-coded blue for water, yellow for gas, red for electrical, and orange for cable & telephone.  Watch for more spray-painting to come on the road, and little flags in the ground when the utilities are marked.

We had our gas lines marked not long ago -- the yellow flags and painted lines just appeared.
What digging is being planned for Conant Road. Anyone know?

Given the gas companies track record, I hope they are not headed my end of the road.  No possibility of leaks here , to date.
None of those scarves showing up on trees....just fine by me.
