[LincolnTalk] Part D open enrollment

Diana Smith
What follows is a letter from a friend who is a SHINE counselor.

To all 65 years old and older, MEDICARE Open Enrollment is from Oct 15 to Dec 7.

A friend alerted me that two companies seem to have changed the naming and costs of plans significantly, so don’t just renew without investigating further.

*Envision Rx plus, cost $14.20 monthly in 2020, is automatically putting people in Elixir Rx Secure costing $34.40 in 2021, NOT the Elixir Rx Plus plan for $14.30 in 2021.

*Mutual of Omaha Rx Value cost $24.10 monthly in 2020 is putting people in Mutual of Omaha Rx plus at $87.10 NOT the Mutual of Omaha Rx premier plan for $25.10 in 2021

There may be better plans available. SHINE (Serving the Health Insurance Needs of Everyone ) Counselors volunteer at Councils of Aging in MA can help you enroll for Medicare Part D, drug coverage.  Call to set up an appointment at the COA (ZOOM or phone) now, as they get booked up quickly

You can also do it yourself at Medicare.gov.  You will need a list and dosage of all of your prescription drugs in order to determine which plan is the most cost effective.  Good luck!
