[LincolnTalk] Home for Portuguese Water Dog

Daniela Caride
Hi Maggie,

Your cousin should contact the breeder to take the dog back to them. All reputable breeders want the dogs back if anything happens, and will find them another home.

If the breeder is not reputable, you may want to tell your cousin to get in touch with PWDCA

Five year old male Portuguese Water Dog (fixed and chipped) - free to a good home.

My cousin in Peabody does not have the right living situation to keep her dog anymore. Logan needs a big yard and lots of exercise.

Here is a little info about the breed:
Portuguese Water dogs make excellent companions. They are loving, independent, and intelligent and are easily trained in obedience and agility skills. Once introduced, they are generally friendly to strangers, and enjoy being petted, which, due to their soft, fluffy coats, is a favor that human beings willingly grant them. Whether employed on a boat or kept as a pet or a working dog, this breed loves water and attention and prefers to be engaged in activity within sight of a human partner. This is not a breed to be left alone for long periods of time, indoors or out. Because of their intelligence and working drive, they require regular intensive exercise as well as mental challenges. Portuguese Water dogs are considered 'hypo-allergenic' because they don't shed.
